How to Choose the Right Location for Your Health Goals

1.      What makes The Float Spa SF the best choice?

At The Float Spa SF in Sneads Ferry, we are all about holistic wellness. Our focus is not on external beauty or skincare, rather the benefits our services provide allow your true beauty to shine from within, which we believe is a far better investment in yourself than spending time and money trying to acquire and maintain the “look” mass-media has socially conditioned all of us to believe we desire. The glow people have when they leave here is their authentic self shining, neither an externally applied product (aka a mask to wear to hide one’s true self), nor a temporary fix with an expiration date.

        2.      Should I float or massage first?

Truth from our MTs: if you aren’t going to really get all the salt out of your hair, please massage first. The drying salt is really rough on our skin.

Other than that, it depends on both your goals and situation. If you need deep bodywork, we recommend floating first to relieve as much surface tension as possible, as that will make your massage more effective. We also have clients whose stress levels make it difficult to jump straight from their loud lives into the quiet of the float pod, and they benefit from having their massage first, using it as bridge between chaos and peace. If you are generally low stress mentally and physically and here for general wellness maintenance, the order of services has little bearing on the experience, and you can choose either, depending on what our schedules look like for the day you want to come. Try it both ways and see what you prefer!

Situationally, if you are coming to the spa with a friend; one of you will float first while the other receives massage first and then you will switch; and you will have to decide together who does what first.

Also, if you are booking services online, and floating first, be sure to allow time to shower between your float and massage, we recommend 30 minutes.

        3.      How should I prepare for this experience?

The basics, water and food. Our float pods each contain over 1,000 pounds of epsom salt, so you want to be hydrated, but not so over hydrated that you have to interrupt your service to use the toilet. Also eat a light, healthy meal before your visit so you don’t get hungry while you are with us, which if you’re enjoying both float and massage can be anywhere from 2-4 hours depending on the service lengths you choose.

We have cold water and hot tea available in our lounge for before, between, and after your sessions.

        4.      Can I jump right back into my crazy life when I’m done?

We definitely recommend scheduling your spa time on a day when you can continue resting after your experience to extend and deepen the benefits of your services. Your body/mind/spirit will be processing many kinds of healing, and those processes are best supported by rest, quiet, warmth, and healthy food; jumping back into stress can reduce the beneficial effects by stalling these processes. If it’s a gym day, go before the spa; if it’s a work day, come after work.

We have massage times available as late as 4:30pm, and our last float time is 7:00pm.

        5.      How can I get the most out of my spa experience?

Simple! Make us part of your routine self care plan. The benefits of both float and massage are cumulative, so the frequency of your visits is important. One visit can be a nice gift to yourself, but regular habits create momentum toward, and maintenance of, whole being health. Consistent practices yield the best results.

If you’re a visitor to our region, make sure you take the benefits home by finding a similar establishment near you. If you’re in the business market, we offer franchise opportunities!

As a general rule of thumb, we recommend no more than a month between services, for both float and massage, any longer in between doesn’t accumulate benefits nearly as well. Some folks, including some of our staff, plan to float once a week, it keeps us sane and allows us to continually provide peace to others; we highly recommend that if you have a high stress job or other life situation you increase the frequency of your visits accordingly.
